Is there a significant difference if they both have the same safety standards? The children's hats are VAT exempt and so if possible I'd rather buy one of them!

Cartoons would be a bonus!

I'm not that fussed what the straps are made of, or at least not so fussed that I wouldn't rather save the money!

DO you mean in terms of looks? I don't care if that's the case, I'm hacking not showing.

They are the exact same hats. I think it's around 55cm that I changes to "adult" size and VAT comes in. I'm 56cm and definitely in adult sizes.

Back in the day when I worked in a saddlery I was trained and qualified to fit by Champion and Charles Owen. Definitely the same standard of hat and no extra padding!

Edited- stand corrected about sizes! Thelwell lining in all sizes ?

I always buy 'junior' hats as they are cheaper and fit me, and they have always been certified to the same standard as the adult ones of that brand/range. As others have said they might have cartoons on the lining (and sometimes come in a box designed to appeal to children), but I've never seen one that looks childish when worn. so why wouldn't you take advantage of the bargain! Now if only I could fit into children's riding boots too...

Nope, you can get massive sizes for kids too.

I have a 62cm children's hat. It has thelwell ponies on the lining to show it is "for kids". The husband's old hat came in a bag and box with pink my little ponies on to mark it out as "for kids" also a large size but priced for a child.
