Children and Ponies thoughts?

dont kids hips not settle til 4 hence why most riding schools wont accept under 4 s as you can cause irrepairable damage to their hips before that age .....

Mostly,it's about their insurance ;)

Mine is 5,had his first "lesson" day after his birthday and has sat on all sorts from beech donk to hunters from tiny.
We dont really do anything, just let him have fun and play about a bit. Will be starting to do round the worlds ect in the summer holls.

My daughter is 5yrs old (6 in sept) and she is riding on the lead rein still.

But is getting there... she prob could do a walk and a little trot on her own, and i will let her one day.

See pony in signature.

Mine have generally had a sit on an older sisters pony from about 3, gone on lead rein hacks at about 4 or 5, started riding properly (i.e. learning to walk / trot / canter) at around 7 and started wanting to go out jumping / do XC etc at 10 or 11. We don't have a 'first' pony (the pony the girls all started riding on is a fast / strong 13:2 PB welsh) so have had to wait for the younger ones to reach a certain size / level of confidence before letting them do too much.
