Child's show jacket

Help!! What size would you buy an average size six year old?? 24"? 26"?
I realise there probably won't be shows or competitions for a while but she has her heart set on one for Christmas so I won't be spending a lot. I've obviously left it too the last minute so no time to try any at a shop etc

Just looks at grand-daughters black show jacket she wore it when she was 8 and 9yrs old and it is a 26" so I would think a 24" would be fine x
