The write up on the news page of H and H about the number of Elite foals on the secoond day at Solihull mentions that Chilli Morning is a Gribaldi son. Really? I went to SHB(GB) and it says this:-

CHILLI MORNING - Elite
Brandenburger - CHESTNUT(17.0), foaled in 2000. Sire - PHANTOMIC(TB). Dam - KORALLE(Brandenburger)
Owner: Ms Stone Standing with: Mr Gauntlett, Chescombe Farm, Doddington Road, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, BS37 6HY, Tel: 01454 315104 www.gauntlett.me.uk

I'm going to assume, since the foal at Solihull was either owned or bred (or both) by Nick Gauntlett, that we are talking about the same stallion.

So, why would H and H think he was a Gribaldi when I didn't, and still don't, think he is?

eddited for typo.

Depressing isn't it? How much time does it take to check a stallion's pedigree when you've got the internet? I think it shows how little importance H&H attach to breeding sadly.

British Media supporting British Breeding to it's full and glorious extent right there!

That said, on CM's stud card, it says that Northern Dancer was an English TB - since when? He was Canadian!

They also say that his sire Phantomic was a German TB - he was owned by Germans, but he, himself was American bred, as was Phantomic's sire (Secreto), dam (Pantomime) and Grandsire (The Axe II). Is this because German TB's are supposed to be more fashionable in the sportshorse world?

Thanks for confirming that I hadn't lost the plot, and it is H and H that has. I also thought well bl**dy great, even on something like that H and H get it wrong!
