If a bone chip was found in joint is it likley to cause a problem at somepoint even if it currently is not effecting the horse?
and is it more predisposed to other joint problems such as DJD as a reslut?

Yes to the above, and be far more prone to go arthritic in that leg, they often go lame in the other leg trying to compensate for it. The horse could have surgery to remove it, but it can damage the joint too just from the surgery - depends on which joint and how big the chip. I would have the horse on cortaflex to help keep the joint in good condition too.
