Hi, please could I have peoples thoughts on both and the difference or why you may chose one over the other.
I've always used a Chiro annually for my pony just to check her over. However there are many people on the yard that prefer to use a physio.

I use used someone who's qualified in acupuncture and chiro. He's also a practicing vet. I started using him because of his reputation and because the high level comp people I know swear by him. He's really helped my gelding with sacroiliac problems. Also, when I got the horse in my avatar he had been schooled incorrectly by a rider with harsh hands. He had that bulging muscle they can get from breaking at the 3rd vertebra. He treated that and all the stiffness problems from that. With good schooling the horse and went on to gain correct musculature.

Equine physio is a type of medical science degree. It's also well regulated. I don't know if equine chiro is the same. Afaik accupuncture is still regarded skeptically by many in the medical community. I was more comfortable that the man I used was also highly regarded as a traditional vet. I suppose what I'm saying is use someone with a good reputation, whatever that person's field of expertise.

I use a highly experienced sport massage person once a month. Theres rarely an issue but if there is something she flags it up. Generally he just enjoys it and it keeps him feeling soft. He does work very hard though.

If there is ever an actual issue I use a vet who is a qualifed osteo as well. Hes amazing. He has such a good eye and has picked up on and fixed things no one else has ever even seen.

I dont like chiros as much. I've used all of them for myself and find osteo the most effective.

ACPAT physio for me. I've used a couple of different ones and found them to be very skilled and thorough :) The ones I've used are also competitive riders so understand what I'm feeling when I explain how the horses are going, and can also advise on ridden work to support the treatment.

ACPAT registered physio for us.

And me , I might consider using a Chiro who was a vet but not other wise .
It’s extremely irritating that ACPAT qualified people who have done the acunpunture training for humans can’t qualify to do it to horses .
