Chiropractors in Berks/Bucks - Isabelle Rosser?

I'm not really an expert so perhaps read these:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiropracty

I understand that osteopaths are more highly qualified - but people always have their own preference. I know which mine is, but it's up to you. I am certain that Kate fixed my old horse when the vet had drawn a blank, and she is responsible for him keeping on going 6 years later.

Is it for a specific problem or a general once-over?

That's an interesting read, thanks.

Do you mind me what it was that Kate was treating your horse for?

I would like him to have a general once over and to also help his 'stiff side'

Not at all.

He was slightly lame on/off - couldn't tell which leg it was or even if it was front / hind - he just felt uncomfortable. Vets had him in for a full workup and told me he was lame in 3 legs: 2 hinds and 1 front (now I would immediately want to investigate the back and rest of horse really). They said it was likely to be a hind suspensory even though it didn't show on a scan, and that the fronts might be sore feet (he has never had sore feet). I followed their 16-week rehab programme and it made no difference.

Vet came again and found nothing. I called Kate out as a last resort - she ran a finger down his spine and he pretty much sank to the floor. She spent several weeks of manipulation and treatment - he hasn't had a problem since. My conclusion is that it was nothing to do with hind suspensories and was just a bad back that I hadn't spotted and nor did the vet. I blame myself now for not realising it earlier - but have also changed vet. Without kate, I would probably have chucked him in a field and left him for a while, as I didn't know what else to do.

One thing I really like about her is that she can look at the person too - so if a horse has a stiff side that is caused by a one-sided rider she can help with this, and give exercises for both of you.

Sounds great, thanks for the info.

I have emailed her for further details. :)

I had a top top physio out recently - who, to be honest I wasn't all that impressed with. So looking for someone else.

To make owners aware, you need to be referred to a physiotherapist/osteopath/chiropractor via your vet, and the treatment must be under the direction of the vet, according to the Veterinary Act 1966:

Physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors

19.12 The Veterinary Surgery (Exemptions) Order 1962 allows for the treatment of animals by physiotherapy, provided that the animal has first been seen by a veterinary surgeon who has diagnosed the condition and decided that it should be treated by physiotherapy under his/her direction.

19.13 'Physiotherapy' is interpreted as including all kinds of manipulative therapy. It therefore includes osteopathy and chiropractic but would not, for example, include acupuncture or aromatherapy.

Other complementary therapy

19.14 It is illegal, in terms of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, for non-veterinary surgeons, however qualified in the human field, to treat animals. All forms of complementary therapy that involve acts or the practise of veterinary surgery must be undertaken by a veterinary surgeon, subject to any exemption in the Act. At the same time, it is incumbent on veterinary surgeons offering any complementary therapy to ensure that they are adequately trained in its application.

Hi I used to use Emma Roberts for my ex racer, she was lovely and had a very good way with 'difficult horses' she's a Chiro and McTimoney practitioner both my vet and saddler recommended her. Im only up the road in Benson she travels around this area as she's based south of Reading :) She has a website though no good at sending links!
