chit chat and tack facebook page

Just seen a screamer! Someone asking which oil to use in their horses feed.

Someone has obviously suggested cod liver oil at some point and another poster has said:

"I don't know why you'd want to use a fish product as it is not in a horses natural diet!" Then goes on to suggest coconut oil...

Yes, because my horse naturally goes round seeking out coconuts in the field to have a good munch on!
I need to leave this thread or i'm not going to have any tea left.. Just snorted some of my brew.. lovely! :D

Is this serious?

''Quick question: are u allowed to keep a Shetland in ur garden if u r a council/housing association tenant?? If u can provide suitable shelter, etc and regular excercise out?''

Personally I'd much rather someone asked the question and was told why that's not a good idea, than just do it. Which people do.

I advertised my drawings on there...the amount of people who wanted one, but didn't want to pay!

I love the photo section, great for playing silly games, although the fad of having your tack photoshopped out makes me roll my eyes a bit!

Seen some scary things, like others have said its not the questions, it's the answers!

I'm in the group, what does that tell you!
I try now and again to educate them when I see incorrect advice being given on a subject I know well.
I plant one of my articles I have written on there and it usually goes eerily quiet for a while, they don't seem to challenge me or come out guns blazing and what's in my various articles about their tack is often not what they want to hear.
Infact I'll put one up now on having a saddle fitted by a professional, see what that drags up, I think that offering advice is the best way forward

Reading one post about getting 14 year old breaking a horse for someone ATM :/ while a valid question some of the replies are concerning. Can tell the people are possibly exaggerating a bit - especially an 8 year old who broke in a stallion.

Apparently we're just jealous.....

Hmm their admin also say of HHO:

"theres a few threads on H&H forums about us , most get deleted by the poster though when they find out we know about it pmsl"

..which is very odd as, of course, posters cannot delete threads on here. :confused3: So she's either mistaken or telling porkies. :wink3:

I thought the same more than likely they've reported the thread and it's been removed and ERG is another fb group called equine rant group which I've never been on but I think it's people arguing and bitching about one another from what I can gather

I found the people very, very strange. I disagreed with the populus on one thread and got my head bitten off - yet what they were promoting could be dangerous...

It's sadly not just limited to CCT, my local horsey facebook page gets a bit scary sometimes. I rarely offer any advice but did pass comment on a video recently, it was entitled 'so-and-so's first time ridden and first fall' or something like that. I did not off advice as that was not asked for but was annoyed that everyone was like, 'wooo you sat that really well, I would have fallen off sooner' so I just said that it was a shame for that to happen the first time the horse was ridden, maybe she was not ready. Cue a whole load of abuse from people saying that I was a b*tch, a few people backed me up (I didn't know them but they all said that it was not normal to fall off a horse the first time it is ridden and that in an ideal world you do as much preparation as possible so it doesn't happen). I left it be but kept an eye on it, then someone made a really racist remark, insinuating that I was foreign! I am not but do have a foreign family name but no direct foreign link. The admin removed the post after that and sent me a pm apologising. Funny how being sat in front of screen makes people experts on everything....

Laafat I remember that post. I didn't read the comments after the few 'woohoo well sat' ones. I was appalled then anyone thinking a horse bucking in utter panic like that one did had had enough groundwork done to be ready to back!

To be fair, that was only on a temporary basis until her field was ready in 6 weeks.

That does make it a little different, plus as I said earlier, better to ask than just go ahead without finding out if if it's a reasonable thing to do.

Some of the comments on this thread are quite over the top about the Fb group, and more than a little snobby IMO. ;)
