Does anyone have any experience with the above cross breed? We have bee offered a 1 1/2 year old as its current owner is going to college aswell as working during the evenings.
Any advice on their temperment? I know it is good with cats and children as currently lives with both but we are currently in a flat although we are hopefully moving into a house later in the year.

Also didn't now f they tend to put on weight as quickly as labs?

Any advice ould be appreciated as want to make the right choice

Not choc lab but black lab x springer (or a springador as he was called

)
I had a male a few years ago, he went to stay with my brother and his 3 kids.
Fab temperament and great with the kids

No idea about cats tho.
He's also prone to being a porker.

was he excitable? I think this is my main worry having no access to a garden at the minute although we do have a large green outside our block where I could let her run around when she needs the toilet

My neighbours have just taken on a black lab x springer, aged 8 months, as her previous owners couldn't manage her

She is very sweet, great with children but is a terror for getting her nose on a scent and going off hunting. They also say she is very bouncy in the house, i.e. jumps on tables and chairs

In her case I think the previous owners didn't give her any training at all, and not a lot of exercise, so may not be typical of the cross, but springers can be a bit "lively"

I have a male black lab x springer, he is just fab! Lovely temperament, loves cats (much more than they love him

) He is always up for an adventure but equally happy to stay indoors if need be. He has always been a rather fussy dog (unlike a lot of pure labs I've known

) and I've never struggled to keep him a healthy weight.

Excersice shouldnt be too much of a problem, I only work 3 days a week and she will also spend weekends and evenings at our small holdg so will have the run of the place.
Would like to be able to take her out with us when riding but dont know if as you say they tend to pick up scents then that wouldnt be ideal.
She is coming from a friend who as far as I know has trained her to a certain extent.
We are having her for a couple of days next wek to see how she reacts to our son and the cats as a bit of a test drive so to speak

Funnily enough my friend bred some Choc Lab x springer last year. All the dogs ended up looking like solid liver/chocolate coloured springers! Both working parents and all pups went to working homes.

Is this dog bred from working or pet lines?

We have a black lab x springer, she is 7months old and lovely natured, a bit chewy but thats just puppy!!

She will be trained as a gun dog for OH and she is very bright already having the basic comands pretty much sussed!!
