Last night our youngest Spinone stole and eat a tub of drinking chocolate, the type you just add water to, not sure how much was in it, or how it was left out on the back of the the work top, this is the biggest food thief that ever walked on four paws so we are really careful. Anyway how long after consuming chocolate is there a risk of poisoning. She has been fine all day, other than pinging off the walls! I guess there is a lot of Sugar in drinking chocolate, knowing what she is like she probably had it before midnight and so far showing no signs of being unwell, is it ok by now to assume she has got away with it, possibly shows how little chocolate in these drinks.

I'm sure someone else knows specific timings but when my pointer ate a chocolate orange (and a bath bomb!!) the vets told me to keep an eye on him for 24hrs. I think if I was you I'd be starting to relax.

I would find out the cocoa percent and ring your vets tbh.if it's dark chocolate cocoa it's more dangerous.if it was true cocoa she "should"be seizuring by now but as it's weight dependent I would not be taking the risk.if you are unlucky as it can cause quite severe liver damage without showing severe clinical signs. Definitely one to consult your vet over at least over the phone! Edited to add hyperactivity is one of the signs of chocolate poisoning....ring ur vet and monitor closely for vomiting diarrhoea and tremors.its a long 24 hours while the body processes the poison.
