Has anyone's horse suffered from choke from accidentally eating unsoaked SPEEDIBEET (NOTE: I'm NOT asking about conventional sugar beet. Speedibeet ONLY))

I have read recently that it is safe to feed dry beet. Not sure I'd want to!!
Dry shreds, which they are no longer making due to the dust were reasonably safe. The quick soak stuff can swell before reaching the stomach and cause choke.

I soak the pellets for about 20 minutes to break them down a bit before feeding otherwise they can also be problematic if not chewed.

What is the context behind the question?

My answer is no, because I’ve never had a horse eat it dry. But it would be a real risk for sure, if a horse ate dry speedibeet, especially in any great quantity. Colic would also be a risk.

Small amounts I’m sure most horses would get away with.

My old boy once broke into the feed room and spent all night eating dry speedibeet….
He was fine, but I wouldn’t recommend it. We were all keeping a very close eye on him for days afterwards.
