I have a rescue 16month old colt, he has only recently been stabled. In the past week he has been getting mild choke nearly every evening, I have had horses since I was 10 years old and none of them have had choke so it is a new experience for me. Any advice would be brilliant on how to either prevent or control choke.

Only Advice or further questions please. Thanks

Choke on hay or hard feed, have teeth been done recently???

Make pony's feed very sloppy with plenty of chaff added, both will slow down eating..

Thank you, I have tried to slow him down by putting a salt block in his feed bucket but hasn't done the trick . I am now waiting for the Vet to call me back and give me advice.
Will be updated

What feed does he get? I would make sure there is nothing with pellets that can swell up or get stuck, so soak all but type feeds til they are a mash and feed with chaff to encourage chewing. Our pony choked on a tiny handful of pony treats as he tried to eat all at once and they blocked and then swelled.
