Choosing a stallion?

There is a possibility that I may be able to put Alisha into foal this year. What sites/magazines are good to look at when choosing a stallion??
 
it depends what her faults are - you need to pick a stallion to compliment her faults. So say for example shes a bit fiesty - pick a stallion which has a good calm reputation.

With Bloss her faults were her long back and her short legs! So i made sure i picked a stallion with a short back and long legs amongst other things.

Putting into foal is an expensive process...........

I know it's expensive, we have looked into it and my parents know it will be expensive...
Alisha does have quite a fiery temperament, so I will definately look for a calm stallion!
 
Are you planning to keep the foal? if so then consider carefully what you are wanting to do with it when looking at potential sires. and if i remember rightly, you never got on very well with this mare, so are yo sure you want a foal/horse that may have some of the same traits that she has? just some things to consider,
 
If I do breed from her then yes, I will keep the foal. I do get on with Alisha, are you sure your not talking about my previous mare? Just find her difficult to handle on box rest but the rest of the time she is lovely, has a nice temperament if a little fiery some of the time, has the most fantastic jump and nice paces

No that was me, it's not navicular! I was worrying about nothing, she has a hairline fracture of her pedal bone which should heal in 3 months

But she has stated "warmblood type that has a good (grade C) SJ record. " Though I agree a nice ID or ISH or CB would be nice that is not what she has asked for on her post??
 
I'm open to suggestions of other breeds, just really like warmbloods, but agree an ID or ISH might be nice... Am new to breeding etc. spent a year on the stud at college so know a bit about it but have never had to choose a stallion and not very hot on good bloodlines etc. so all advice is useful

ah, ok. i thought i remembered you posting to say that you were looking to sell her once you got her sound. i may be completely off the mark though! look for a nice man to compensate her faults, and compliment her plusses!
 
I was having a bad week with her and other stuff and everything just came to a head and wrote that on the spur of the moment. I love that mare to pieces and I will not sell her at the moment. She is hot headed and sharp at the moment but only because she is out of work so she has loads of energy bless her!
