Chopped straw for bedding

Pay around £7. (dust extracted & treated with something so they don't eat)Muck out each morning & take wet out once a week & dry floor. Then use 1 bag to refill each stable, however we could use less as our beds are really deep. Wet drains down to the bottom so beds always cosy.

Its fab, we have chopped straw and shavings mix with ucaliptus- cant spell !!I think it is 4.80 a bale, It makes really warm beds, I put in 1/4 of a bag every other day, so semi deep litter, I love them, much nicer than shavings!!

I used chopped straw with eucalyptus, deep litter bed, one every 5 - 6 days as he is quite messy, but on this bed it is so easy to muck out. poo only gets mashed in when he treds on it. Deep litter is much easier for me as I don't like it when the bed moves. Very solid and very cozy bed. Highly recommended. I pay for the chopped straw 6.50 and for the chopped straw mixed with big flake shavings is 6.25, so I have swapped and it is working just the same as the original chopped straw.

hi there, I saw some chopped straw on the farmers guardian website its in Blackburn at £4.50 a bale. My 3 are on chopped cardboard now but would have got some myself otherwise i used it previously and its great. OH and they deliver......Bonus.
let us know how you get on.

which part of lancs are you in?
i used it and didnt like it, ended up mixing with shaving so it soaked up more!
we are still managing to get the smaller straw here so if we've not too far maybe you dont have to change?
