Chopping haylage into shorter lengths

I have bought the one that is pictured above. It's like an upturned bowl on the top, with a guard to stop you from pushing material down to the flails. Most of the shredders available are for sticks and clippings. The blades and motor can't cope with forage, but this version works fine. A company called 'Worx' do a model, and I think there are Chinese copies out on line too.

Ebay have the Super Handy Garden Shredder Mulcher on sale at the moment, if anyone is interested. I have found it an absolute godsend for my oldie. A bit time consuming, because the hay/haylage has to be sprinkled onto the cutting lines - it can't deal with chunks or wodges. Breaks down to a fine chaff and Old Dobbin has actually gained weight this winter.

Ooh I like the look of that. My 36 year old can still eat hay but will keep a note in case that changes.
Also... shock! horror! I might actually use it in the garden as well  🤣🤣🤣

I also bought one of these, used once and no longer needed so happy to sell cheaper if anyone is interested

Old Dobbin has COPD, and unfortunately, hay is one of the triggers. I am understandably reluctant to introduce hay products. He also has 50% of his forage ration as soaked sugar beet and grass chaff, plus alfalfa to bump up the protein.
