Chris Day/Tim Couzens

Yep, I've used Tim Couzens and he's excellent. They are both holistic vets, which means they are qualified vets and don't only use "alternative" therapies.
I had to pay Tim's initial visit, but now my horses are on his books sometimes all it needs is a phone call for him to send me out whatever is needed. I've treated sarcoids successfully with his help, he's also treated that horse with acupuncture for muscle strain. With a horse that I took on that has severe behavioural problems his help was invaluable, I actually don't know if I'd have got through everything without Tim's help.

I used Chris Day years ago and he was fantastic. i had a horse which had been suffering from serious diarrohea for 5 months, was coughing and snorting. Local vets had been treating him since day 2 and he was getting no better. he was being double dosed wormer every 2 week, probiotics, equiimune, antibiotics, having faecal samples taken twice weekly and bloods and was down to go to Newmarket to have a gut flora transplant. He was seriously ill. I called chris out as a last ditch attempt. He came out with his leather gladstone bag and gave him a thorough examination. Basically Chris was convinced he just had a virus and was overreacting to the heavy duty wormers they were giving him and was being pulled down by the antibiotics. And they were also conflicting with the probiotics and the equiimune. He felt there was something going on with his sinusus so he gave him accupuncture in his face. almost immediately cottage cheese started to pour down his nostrils. He insisted on moving him off all premixed feed and suggested I move him on to Simple Systems as he was convinced he had a serious sugar and garlic intolerance and his gut needed plain food to try and readjust itself. He checked his shoeing, his back, his bridle, bit and tack and recommended a new saddle fitter (Kay Humphries) as his exisiting saddles although fitted and made by a well known saddler were badly made and badly fitted. All in all he was there for 2 hours, my horse had a thorough examination and all aspects of his health and well being looked into and recommendations made. As a result of Chris's treatment my horse continued to pour the cottage cheese substance for about 4 days then it stopped. His poo became normal within 5 days as soon as I started the Simple Systems. Within 14 days I had a horse who was bouncing with good health, had put on the weight he had lost and was far more sane than he had ever been. he stopped snorting and throwing his head and in the new saddle made by Kay he has never had a back problem again. I just wish I had called him out far earlier.

Chris Day treated my mare's sarcoids years ago - we'd tried nasty caustic stuff, tying them and Thuja (home homeopathy). He came and did the whole horse holistic thing (also put me in touch with Kay Humphries who has been my saddler ever since), He tried 2 things for sarcoids and then the 3rd, related to Tuberculosis I think, he said if this doesn't do it nothing will. A few days later the sarcoids started dropping off and no sign for about 8 years, though a couple have come back in her older age. Maybe a coincidence but who cares, I stlll think it's clever stuff - he's quite a character too...
