They're here!!!!
Safely back from their temporary home - 300 mile round trip and they were little superstars. My maiden voyage for driving the trailer on the motorway and for driving it with living things in!!! If anyone is thinking of buying a trailer I can honestly recommend the Bateson Deauville - you hardly know it's there!
If people remember, VictoriaEDT posted about 3 tiny ponies that had been rescued from an abattoir. The kind lady that rescued them, thinking she could easily rehome them, couldn't keep them and couldn't find a home for them. She told VictoriaEDT that if they weren't rehomed by Christmas Day they would have to go back to the abattoir. Victoria put a desperate plea on the Forum and the rest is history! 3rd pony has gone as a brood mare and Molly and Donut are now home with me.
Initally, Donut was to move on again on Wednesday to another lady who wanted a companion for her youngster. But Molly and Donut are so utterly dependent on each other that this kind lady said I should keep them both so they aren't separated until they're ready. So another lovely livery at my yard is taking on Donut. We will share the stable and all the other bits and bobs. She's going to break Donut (5yrs old gelding) to harness to give him a "proper" job. Maybe I'll try with Molly too, though at 15 she's not quite as bold as her little pal. They both had a long drink, a humungus roll and a humungus pee then settled down to quietly nibble hay and doze. Long day for all of us.
Any Shettie owners out there know what a large letter N branded on Molly's flank might be? Hard to see under her thick winter coat but someone has suggested it might be a Commoner's brand?
Pix tomorrow when my IT Director is back from a business conference in Cambridge. Another High Five for H&H Forum and horses in need x
