On Christmas Day I am planning on walking the dogs in Clumber Park. They love going round the lake and being retrievers will insist on a "quick dip" whatever the weather.
So I was wondering if anyone else plans a Christmas Walk or are you all to busy wirh presents, food etc

Mine will be in their usual routine, up at 6am, off the the yard to do the horses - dog play/explore while we do chores etc. Then walk round the farm for approx 1hr, then an evening walk of the same.

When I lived in Surrey, I did notice there were a lot more dogs being walked on Christmas day over the heath than on a normal day - do these dogs only go out once a year?!!

Yeah we go for a big long walk in the woodland :D sadly our old dog cant go far anymore so it'll just be the mental two after theyve opened their presents!

The first thing we do on xmas day is take the dogs on a lovely long walk, Then they can have their 'christmas' dinner and snooze away, lol.

Our spaniel will come to the yard with me first thing before any presents are opened, then we will be home to have presents and breakfast before going to my parents for lunch, then home again to feed the cows so will have plenty of time out and about.

Our usual every day walks have to be planned! Simply to avoid busy times and numpties! He is reactive so simply easier that way then we can plan bumping into sensible dogs who we know:D Christmas day,I'm planning on walking when everyone else is shovelling turkey down into their chops!

Having said that, if anyone is walking in my area and has a stooge dog and are on their own,I'd be more than happy to arrange a walk & bring festive munchies..I'll need them, thats for sure, tho will likely be too exhausted to eat them,so other person would have to eat mine for me!:D:D:D

ours will be walked earlier and for even longer than usual.Nothing like a brisk walk before Christmas dinner.Plus my mum and dad are here for the afternoon so hopefully the terriers will have a little less bouce in them:rolleyes:

After the kids finish with their present opening, we meet the in-laws at the park so that Loki can play with their two dogs for a while. They all have a great time! Not really a Christmas walk, more a Christmas play date. :)

Ours will get their normal walks but also get a 'special' walk in the afternoon while dinner is cooking.

10 minute car journey and out in the woods for a good run around, back home, dogs towelled off and then sit down to food!

Mine might get to go for a run with the OH in the morning (depending on how much he's drunk) whilst I do the horses and go to my parents for xmas. Then it'll be a dogless trip to the pub for a few drinks to meet people I won't see otherwise - it is too busy on xmas day to consider taking the dog in the tap room with me. Then it will be back to the in-laws for xmas lunch, and then another trip down to the stables. The in laws have a huge enclosed garden and the OH has bought his dad one of these for xmas, so think the dog will be shattered even if he doesn't get an interesting walk :)

Ours all keep to the normal routine, morning walk between 6 and 7am then again about 3pm. I will do the horses after the first and last dog walk and in between we will be visiting and eating! HorseyLad, Im always amazed by how many people we meet on Xmas and Boxing days (as long as the sun is shining of course) it does make me wonder what happens the rest of the year!

My Christmas plans have changed as my Dad was admitted to hospital last night(He is 94) with a very bad chest infection. They said they would do everything they can for him.

I will do the horses and give the dogs a good walk in the woods then back home to shower and go up to the hospital.

We had planned to have lunch with him at the nursing home. I will get something for us , but Christmas this year is cancelled for us.

I will do the horses in the evening and the dogs will get a free run around the fields.

I always take my brood for a woodland walk whilst the parents are doing their horses.

Actually its prob my favourite part of the day..............

but don't tell anyone.
