Today we went to our Riding Clubs, members only, Xmas Dressage with lots of friends dressed as santa and elves and everything else Christmassy!
Ruby festively plaited!
We've recently had a couple of lessons with a new instructor and her influence has been amazing, she's feeling much more grown up and really confident in her work, as opposed to shuffling round looking pretty. With this in mind, i decided this would be a good chance to test the waters at Novice again, our last go was ok, but still very intro/ prelimy with a bit of fast trot work! Well today, she was just outstanding, with just one wobble between the medium canter and the medium trot. The judge thought so too and rewarded her with a cracking 77.38% 3% clear of 2nd place!
Quick costume change and a short warm up for the dressage to music class, this was a first for both of us, but it was great fun dancing around to Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman! I got a bit emotional riding round as she executed with out fuss, all the things we've struggled with this year; Canter transitions *tick* medium trot *tick* change of legs through trot *tick* . . . its all just coming together and i was just overwhelmingly proud of her!
I was amazed at prize giving once again to hear we had also won that on an astounding, hugely generous and over the top score of 90.5% - the score was a combination of test marks and costume/ music/ floor plan and enjoyability so we won't be troubling the top guns just yet!
Heres the test, lots to work on, but it was just great fun to ride and she felt so grown up!
