Christmas gift for YO

I am buying myself a new fleece jacket, some chocs and a bottle of baileys (not sure if mint or original yet) because i am def worth it and for putting up with my mood swings :D ;)

OUr YO is part of a family - all of whom we know, so I'm getting: A scarf for the wife, a bottle of something to drink for the husband , some Thorntons choccies for the youngest (14 yr old boy) and a couple of bottle of crabbies for the oldest boy.

We club together and put it in a pot and actually get her vouchers from our local equestrian shop. That way, she gets quite a reasonable amount, we don't have to bankrupt ourselves and she can buy what she wants or needs.

Over the years I have bought some really nice presents for YO and yard staff for Christmas - and NEVER once got a thank you from any of them.

Last year I bought them a mug each (nice Kath Kidson one) and again not a "Thank You" in sight.

This year they are getting a tin of chocolates - am fed up of spending over £50 on the lot of them.

Bah Humbug!!!!!

Hexx that's awful!!! I am always grateful for anything (particularly red wine :p). What I don't like is when clients buy me a present and completely ignore the staff. I'd far rather they bought staff the present and not me (after all, I get paid for having the horses here :))

I know! When she lost her brother in an accident, we sent a huge bunch of flowers - not even an acknowledgement that she had got them - since when does a thank you cost anything?

I bought the yard staff some chocs last year.. they'll probs have the same this year, will have a think about my YO... she's been wonderful to me this year so want to make it special.

I'll get a box of chocolates for everyone at the yard, a bottle of wine for YO and a big bag of carrots for the horses!

Our YO is an extremely rich Lady Blah Blah who we rarely see and is fond of telling us that we can always leave if we don't like it so nothing. Last year for our sort of pseudo YM we clubbed together and got a lovely framed pencil drawing of his favourite hand-reared calf.

This year I'm not so sure he is being a right barsteward and won't fix anything, won't drag the arena and is generally being obnoxious so probably nothing. It's a real shame as we have a nice, friendly bunch of people on the yard who for the most part do their best to help keep the yard in good order.
