Where should I look/advertise for someone to look after my horses over the xmas period? My OH has booked for us to go away (was meant to be a surprise, but he suddenly remembered I would need to get someone to look after the nags). I am happy for someone to either commute daily, or to stay at ours over the xmas/NY period. There are only two stabled at night, the mares and youngsters live out 24/7. Ideally it would be good if the person would ride to keep mine in shape. We are going from the 23rd to the New Year - prob about the 2nd. Do you think anyone would do this?

Im sure you could find someone. I have done this myself in the past over the same holiday period. I think you would just have to make sure that the pay reflects the time of year, when peoples time can be that bit more precious.

We live near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, and OH prepared to pay a good wage

You live mileeesssss away =[ but move to Gloucestershire and I'd be more than happy!

I'd approach the local stables, etc etc. There will be somebody I'm sure! Riding instructor? Horsey people that are already out doing their horses would be more than happy to do yours I'm sure! xxxx

Could the house/horse sitter bring their own horse and stay? reflected in price obviously. When i split up with my other half years ago i would have jumped at the chance to take the horse away over christmas and keep myslef occupied.

and now must say that if my and new other half had not agreed to go to a wedding on the Isle of White - i would have offered to come down and do it just for somewhere different to stay - and saved me a fortune in hotel bills.
