Hi, Merry Christmas to you all!!!

What have you all been doing with your boys/ girls today?

Mine was not ridden yesterday in the wind, and as a bit frisky to go straight out, so we did 20 minutes of upbeat schooling followed by a wonderful relaxed walk around the village in the warm sunshine. A bit different to some years!

How about everyone else?

Merry christmas! I got up at 7 as usual and went to the stables. Fed the ponies and mucked out my own. I went for a hack with another girl and her horse this morning. Was nice to go out as im just bringing my mare back into work after almost losing her to a tendon sheath infection in summer. Was a lovely crisp morning and a nice quiet hack :) x

Mine was on his toes today and wanted to gallop EVERYWHERE when I took him out this morning! We had a few controlled (ish) canters and lots of extended trot before I left him to have a hooley in the field with his mates and gave my arms a rest!

Went for a lovely hack with two friends this morning. All good as gold and now turned out for the rest of the day. Will go back up later and bring him in. Merry Xmas everyone xxx :)

Out at 8am for a sploshy good hoon on my own as girl next door was running v late.
FLF very good & now out in the top field with TF (also v happy as no grazing muzzle on)
Back about 4+ for the tea-trolley run & then can have a drinky whilst xmas dinner is cooking :)

Sadly not this year! Going down later to spend some time with Ned and Cookie. Just checked on them this morning to throw some carrots at them and check Ned still has his boot on!

It was short, very wet and freezing, but we managed our annual Christmas Day ride. I didn't bother with hats and tinsel this year - they would have been blown away! Don't need to worry about friskiness - he lives out, which is why he looks like a giant teddy bear!

Yeah mucked out and ridden by 10am, both had a total meltdown at a patch of sunlight shining on the wooden school door! Loons! But love em! :D

He`s spotless for saying he lives out ...... :)

Mine live out too but we certainly wouldn`t have been placed in the "best turned out" stakes today i`m afraid ..... i chipped the mud off the saddle and girth area, and away we went lolol

Mines to young to be ridden. I do miss my Christmas day rides that I used to do all tinsel-fied, much to the disgust of my horse (who took advantage one year and took off when I rode bareback) lol

I managed to injure myself 2 weeks ago so no riding for me :( I'd already got twinkly lights and bells to decorate them with too, and the weather is lovely. Will have to wait for next year.

Friend and I went for a hack in the sunshine this morning. Me in my Santa jumper and Santa hat cover, her with Santa ears on the pony. All very festive and people in the village waved and smiled for once. After the weather we've had over the last few days, today was calm and sunny. Now home and about to start cooking and drinking! Happy Christmas everyone.

Luna and I managed a quick Christmas hack first thing.

Wow, well done on the tinsel :D What a lovely horse!

That's about as much as I usually do! Fortunately, he is freakishly clean - he usually chooses the nice mossy bit of the field to roll on, so all I have to groom is around the girth area and a few crusty bits off the tummy.

I'm still trying to decide whether to ride. Alfs girlfriend will have a fit -the other two are of no interest to her, she just wants to be with him, so merry hell will ensue. And he's very muddy, so will require significant excavation before I can ride him. Left them all with piles of hay studded with carrots, and a field lick, and they looked so happy that I might just leave them in peace!

Lunged B1 and B2 and hand grazed them for a bit then rode L for 18th Christmas day on the trot. She's 34 in spring and officially retired but she jogged sideways down to the school (and back) and we had a nice 5 minute walk round then a little trot and very short canter and she was loving it! Can't beat Christmas traditions. :)

Was my first Xmas ride ever this year! I rode with my daughter and our friend. We did a (mostly) sedate canter in a stubble field. It was lovely, my mare (piebald) was very fizzy which was lovely in one way and a bit scary in another as I am not used to it! My daughter is a practiced hand at Xmas riding and ensured we were properly turned out regarding tinsel and whatnot :)

Her TB gelding has only just returned to work and is only doing 10-15 mins walking so my daughter had the treat of riding another friend's absolutely diamond gem of a horse ( black mare in centre)

Wolf (4yo) and me went for our first ever xmas ride together. It was only round the estate, but he was a good boy. Not many youngsters you could just drag out of the field and ride round a housing estate while all the kids are whizzing round on their new xmas bikes with jingle bells and trailers and all sorts. Very proud of the boy, he only started to get his pants bunched once and diffused relatively easily :) If he can cope with life on the streets round our way, he can cope with anything.

Took my lad Arion out for a Xmas hack this morning - on the way back the wind really picked up and we almost got blown away. I was trying out my new hat cam that my OH bought me but it appears I didn't switch it on properly - will switch it on before I get on board tomorrow and try again.

Lovely little hack out with friend and YO, I even got home half an hour before lunch was served which put me in the old man's good books!! Merry Christmas!! X

Lovely calm and bright day, as the woods are sodden we went for a rare road hack, with a few stony bridleways In between. As expected, far fewer cars out and only one idiot to close and fast. Kudos to the kids buzzing up and down the roads on mopeds. I was dreading them coming past but they cut their speed and noise, and gave plenty of room. They passed us twice, wish we could let them know how grateful we were for their road manners. Horses were fab, now back out in a fresh field rested since April and very happy.

We usually go out in the morning, but unfortunately, I was ill this this morning (NEVER, EVER mix wine and JD !!!), so we went out this afternoon, complete with Hubbie and the lab ! We have to go over a wooden bridge to get to the village, and this is the first time ever that Shy didn't want to cross it as the water was soooooo high and fast. Polos did the trick !

I love love love going for a ride on Christmas morning! So today we took out my husbands TB Frenchy and my Dad's old boy Luke who will be 20 this year. (why does someone not tell that horse he is Old!) we had a lovely ride over wet fields in the sunshine - both boys were lovely and keen and Luke tried to give Frenchy a run for his money up the hill (we didn't tell him that Frenchy was being held back for him). Then I went to visit my lovely mare Jessica who is in Horspital with a mystery lameness in her hamstrings. She seemed a little sad but I tried to cheer her up with an apple and some in hand grazing and a good groom. (nice of the vets to let me visit on christmas day) Hope she will be home soon!

Nice 90 minute ride this morning in the sunshine, accidentally spent 5 hours down the yard this morning so this afternoon was bring in feed and go
