anyone anything to advise re: chronic bursitis? TB18yrs. He didn't do anything obvious but the swelling appeared all of a sudden behind knee just below it on lateral side.Vet said not check ligs or anything serious just prob degenerative after lots of impact steeplechasing and he's had fair share of leg injuries...not soft, quite fibrous, size of golf ball, no heat, no lameness at all. Can't get it to go down. Vet said it prob wont- we just keep eye on it to ensure doesn't go lame.i just wonder if you can get rid of hte lump short of a surgical procedure and if it might lead on to lameness if not dealt with?

Don't know if its similar but Fly has has bursitis around the tendon sheath. It did swell and had heat but after ultrasound to confirm problem he has been on restircted exercise now for 8 weeks. He is sound and was turned out recently. I still have to build up the tendon elasticity gradually and have been told it is something that could flare up repeatedly. He was very mildly lame with it and then sound so I have to be very aware of it and not over do it. Heat in the leg is a good indicator. If the leg is cold I wouldn't worry too much. Don't know if this helps at all.
