I posted 2 weeks ago about my mare who had tied up during a walk/trot hack. She's a fit ISH eventer and was ready to compete BE100.
After another blood test a week later that came back with CK normal, but AST raised, we were advised to give her another week off and then a week walk, week trot, and then try some canter work before getting the vet back to retest bloods.
So yesterday she had her 1st session on the walker in preparation for being ridden at walk today. When I turned her out last night she looked uneven - but I had no chance of cathching her having just let her go, so left her til this morning.
When she came in this morning she trotted up sound as a pound, so I tacked her up. Went to pick out her feet, picked up her front foot and she collapsed.....!
Called vet.......seems she has had another attack - possible brought about by too long on the walker yesterday.......?!?
She now is on box rest withy 5 mins walking in hand a day, slowly increasing.
What would you do? This mare isn't mine - she's on loan. She's a fantastic horse, but we've just spent 9 months rehabilitating her from a kissing spines op only to be landed with this. I had hoped that she would be a JRN horse for my daughter, but that's just not going to be - we've had her over 2 years and competed her 3 times in total. We started off leasing her - but changed to a loan when I agreed to see her through the KS op and rehab. I think I've had enough now, but I love her........?
