Chuck wagon racing, is this cruel? (video)

I've probably missed something obvious - but I don't think it's cruel.
I thought it was kinda cute & nice to see mini's doing something for a change.
(I watched them in reverse order, couldn't make out what they were doing in the second video, but I worked it out on the first one.)

I was too late to edit the title, cruel was the wrong word to use. I give up with this.

Thats fantastic, and they seem to enjoy their work, nice to see minis doing something and not just kept as spoilt overfed misrable pets like some are...

aww that is sooooooooooo cute - it looks liek the little ponies were loving it and there were plenty of people around to make sure any tangles etc were sorted out - i agree, its better than them just being field ornamnents x

I was going to say, it's not very different to scurry driving. I can't see anything cruel about it. What did you mean the titile to be?

Is someone saying that's cruel? It's just western "four in hand"/carriage racing derby, similar to what they have that The Royal every year.

Now "real" chuck wagon racing, like they have at the Calgary Stampede and similar is a totally different story. I'm not sure whether the actual "ask" is cruel but A LOT of horses have been killed doing it, and it's been under fire - reasonably enough, I think - from animal welfare organisations because of it. It's not exactly the "suicide" races but I'm not sure it's too far off.
