Given the recent posts on what we feed our dogs I have been looking at changing what our 2 are on. I was thinking about it anyway as 1 dog has started going off his food a little too. So I have found Chudleys original and classic which would both be suitable for them. I have rung up and the lady said these are suitable for them even though they aren't in work. So what are peoples thoughts on this brand of food then?

Thanking you!

Now, this could be in no way connected but want to mention it just in case, in 2003, I put Boss onto Chudleys Sensitive because he kept getting a dickie tummy.... within a month he had lost all the hair from under his tummy, around his sheath and from most of his back right leg.... his skin weeped and bled and it tooks months to sort out, he underwent skin biospies and they suspected a food allergy.... so I changed him to JWB and it cleared up within weeks, never to return. I can't say that the food caused it but I could find no other explanation.

He does someimes have Chudleys Senior and it has never affected him so I don't know. Just sharing my experience!

I recently started changing Bruce onto Chudleys as I thought it would save a bit of money - however within 2 days he started getting hypersensitive skin ( he is an itchy dog anyway) and the vet sugeested it could be the food as nothing else had changed... so its back to good old expensive Arden Grange Sensitive for him!

Do the bags show the ingredients? I am looking on Chudleys website and can't find ingredients listed at all. They are keen to show nutritional value, but these can be confusing as you don't know what main ingredient is the source of protein etc.

Thier description of the Original says it is a "savoury muesli diet", which would question whether this is very high in cereals.

Oh no! Bossdog has his hair re-grown now? They had sensitive tummies when they were little pups but they were also carrying a parasite at the time. They are 20 months now and have been on the same food since about 4 months. I had a look at the hypo stuff, think it was JWB but its so expensive, especially for 2 of them!

Skinners Field & Trial Duck & Rice is Hypoallergenic and only £20 for a 15kg sack.
My Dog was fed Chudleys, but he refused to eat, looked very poor and had a constantly upset tum. As soon as we switched to D&R he was much happier and goes nuts as soon as he sees you go to his food bin.
It was more to do with his very sensitive digestion than Chudleys being rubbish though, my Parent's dogs were fed it for ages with no trouble!

I feed mine on Chudleys and I have no health issues with my 10 dogs

....I mainly use the working but if there is none I use the classic......even my 17 year old whip x grey is still munching her way through it.

I fed my greyhound a sack of the Chudleys Greyhound Maintenance and she didn't do well at all - her skin went really dry and flaky and her coat was dull. She's on Skinners D&R now and has great skin and hair.

Wow, interesting replies, I wasn't sure about posting in case it was a bit of a one off but interesting that so many others have suffered with skin complaints! His hair all grew back fine and noone else would even notice, although I can see a difference in his coat colour and texture, it was 6 years ago though and he has never suffered again!

Thanks for all your responses, seems to be one of those trail and error things then. I think I will try them on it and (finger crossed) hopefully they won't have any adverse reactions but if they do will look at the Skinners mentioned above.

my 10 dogs are on chudleys working crunch apart from 7mth old who has chudleys junior all fit and healthy and working dogs apart from retired 13 yr old don't like the muesli mixes as too sticky and don't think does teeth any good plus meant to wet it when feeding my lot needs to be quick and easy.

I have 2 pointer crosses who are both fed on a little tinned meat and chudleys working crunch.
Both doing really well on it and everyone mentions their condition so i'm a fan.
One is a fussy eater and not motivated by food at all (other total pig) and he seems to like it.
