I was having a nosy through the entries for the CIC*** at Belton and noticed an old friend of mine is entered in it. I didn't think she had ridden at *** before although I knew she was advanced. Isn't this quite a step up competing against the big boys and some of their top horses? Also how do you qualify for this?

i'm a bit rusty, but i think that if you're qualified for A, and have gone clear at that level, then you just need to do a CIC** and a CCI** and you're qualified for CIC***... pretty much. but the quals change just about every year, so you prob need to check on BE for the definitive answer!

Wowser. I would have felt a bit rude asking her. As if to say 'how are you competing at that level'? I will be keeping an eye out for her on saturday then!

BE rule book currently states that you must have a qualifying result from an advanced and 2 CIC**s although I'm sure a CCI** is a perfectly acceptable alternative to one of the CICs, it doesnt say that though

Thing is some of us can't do CNC***s (an advanced) easily, there is no equivalent class in Belgium, and very few in Holland (which has an agreement with Belgium on riders competing in each other's countries), and the FEI allows for this in the rules. I can't remember off the top of my head but think I worked out William will need another QR at a CIC** to be able to do Blenheim CIC*** (he's got a QR at a CIC** and a CCI**). Whatever, fact remains when he does his first *** he almost certainly will not have been round an advanced, just some **'s.

i haven't actually looked for this year

But i've entered Chatsworth CIC*** without having done an Adv (although i will have done by then)... I'm pretty sure you can qualify through 2*'s...

I should think you can as I was qualified to do a CIC** (Intermediate equivalent of a CIC***) before I did an intermediate - my CIC* results were good enough
