After a week of debating whether to go BE or not today have finally accepted that somebody up there doesn't want me to go so am going to withdraw (who do i ring to do that? the entries sec?)
My rib is still pretty sore but have been managing to ride ok and not been hurting at all with mega painkillers that i got on thursday. so was all set to go, just needed to plait the pony this morning and i was good to go.
Went to bed about half 11 last night, set alarm for 6am. What i didn't plan for was waking up about 2am feeling awful- really sick, cold sweats and dizzy (like i do when i've had a lot of booze...but obviously no drinks at all last night for me). Got up to go to the bathroom and then must have keeled over (right on my face...nose was bleeding everywhere). OH was trying to get me up but i couldn't move i felt that dizzy and sweat was just pouring off me :( finally got back to bed where i then threw up (fortunately into the bin!!) and then just lay there feeling generally rubbish :( all i can think is that i had a reaction to the painkillers even though i took them exactly as instructed. i feel fine today but decided it really wasn't sensible to drive 2+ hours and then try to ride my horse...i think i'm ok but obviously might happen again which would be very dangerous. so i'm really gutted as this would be my first BE for 2 years and will lose my money and my day ticket :( so now need suggestions for a new event to aim for. Winkburn park or Llanymynech?

Oh no! Really sorry to hear that. Pleased you're feeling better now! Winkburn is a nice event overall, but there are a lot of small niggly things that stop it from being a really good event! Havent been to the other one!

Oh poor you, what a horrible week! Does sound like it could be a reaction to the pain killers, its pants but listen to your body, something us riders don't seem very good at:rolleyes:

D_K has a saying which drives me nuts, but I know he is right, 'everything happens for a reason', it really does sound like BE today wasn't meant to be.

Take it easy over the weekend, hope you feel better soon, sorry cant help with BE advice its a long time since we have been to W for ages and never L.

Take care

You may be able to ge back your entry fee and/or reuse your day ticket if you get a doctors line? I don't know this but would've thought its worth a try! What painkillers were you on? They sound a bit nasty!!!

Thanks Kat and AB- yes totally agree i was not meant to go today :D think my OH would have left me if i'd set off for an event after scaring the **** out of him last night

Cm- i was on Co-Dydramol...never had them before...never will again :( (which is a shame as i have loads of them and thought they might come in handy in the future  )

I think it might be Llanymynech that i go for. if i do winkburn he'll have had 2 weeks off and then a week back in work- wheras L will give me another week to play about with things and get prepared for it.

DB speak to your Doc as not necessarily reaction to the painkillers - these exact symptoms have been hitting at our yard, pny club and work, even my dog was unwell. We all said we wished we had had the great time we should have had for the 'hangover from hell' we were all experiencing :D

You did exactly the right thing hope things pan out for you for your next event x:)

DB so sorry to hear you didn't make it!!! What an awful experience in the night, I hope you don't feel like that again, but I would get back to the docs and ask for something else if I were you! Hope you feel better soon.

oh no, poor you!! :( how horrible! but i think you made the right decision not to go.

to be honest... whenever i end up being ill or something pops up and i'm gutted i couldn't go... i always think ''it was meant to be... maybe if i had gone i would have had a bad fall/knackered my horse... fate is telling me not to go'' :D - not sure if i believe in all that fate lark... but i try and think like it anyway ;) haha

hope you're feeling better soon, and you have better luck for your next event! :) xx

i think i'll steer clear of the docs...was just in a bit of pain beforehand...now i feel groggy, my nose is all cut and swollen and sore!!
have entered Llanymynech so have something to look forward to! :):)

Hope you feel better soon. Good decision to enter Llanymynech - it's a lovely event. I will probably be helping as OH has been asked to doctor.

Poor you!!! Still I bet on your boy you will need to be 100% fit for his first BE, so maybe its all for the best. Bu***r about the money on entries though.
