Civil claims court...how successful?

It is a bit cheaper to issue via money claims online but the process is the same. The small claims court is designed for litigants in person, not solicitors, the only difference really is the you submit the forms online and check for a response online.

I used Money Claim Online to (successfully) get a CCJ against my ex who owed me money. Long story short I took out a credit agreement for him, Black Horse wouldn't accept him as he was a student and so didn't have a permanent address. He agreed to set up a standing order to pay back the monthly payments when they came out of my account. Suprise suprise when we broke up about 3 months later he cancelled the standing order and was spouting "i can't afford it"

After about 6 months he owed me about £240, pkus he still owed £300 for his share of our holiday we went on. I sent him a recorded letter advising if he did not make arrangments to pay back the money I would pursue through small claims court. He still argued it and so I pursued it through MCOL. It ended with him admitting he owed the money and a CCJ was issued against him. He agreed to pay back what he owed in £10 installments. I should've taken it further as frankly he should have been paying at least £40 but to be honest I didn't want to see him in court as I would probably have punched him!

I would say a message from Facebook would definitely stand up as evidence as they have acknowledged they owe you that. I would write and say you need to agree a date to pay me or set up installments by dd/mm/yy otherwise I will be pursuing this through the small claims court.

£400 for a tow bar?? Is that why other half is refusing to pay? I got my towbar for £130 fully fitted from a proper fitting centre. I had a woman who owed me £60 in rent and just threatening her with small claims made her pay up.
