Civil Service Riding Club

LOL! Me either!

They are based in London and I'll be working there from Mon-Thurs as of next week so I thought I would join them.

Can't seem to actually contact them though so I was wondering if there was anyone on here who knew how...

Great I will just fly over every week

Wow, is there really a Civil Service riding club? They kept that quiet. I worked in the Civil Service for 18 years and no-one ever told me!! There must be a number somewhere on one of the Intranet sites or maybe you could contact them through Club News?

Yes they do have a number and an email address listed but haven't had any response so far...

I will probably just wait and then go along to one of the events

I looked into joining when I was based in London in the Civil service but the prices were prohibitive even with the CS discount so I didn't bother.

I just googled it though and it looks a bit different to what was going on when I was in London.

I got a PM from someone who can forward me the info so I will check it out. I could just get lessons somewhere but I'd quite like the social side of being in a club too.

London prices are expensive aren't they! I paid £30 for a half hour private lesson at Lea Valley. It was well worth it as the horse was lovely but it's not something I could do every single week!

You can come visit us everytime we have an outing! Hehe the bests ones over here are forest rides up at Toms. Go through Tullymore Forest Park at the Mournes.

Yes but they use a local riding school for their events so the horses there can be hired I believe

PMSL! Sparklet I will need to get my bowler hat and umbrella out.

The Civil Service riding club was based for many years in the Royal Mews behind Buckingham Palace where they stabled their horses. However some years ago their lease was not renewed so the horses where sold.

We where promised a new Equestrian Centre with an indoor arena close by on the South side of Hyde Park and I seem to remember that the King of Kuwait gave a substantial sum of money for this and also for the refurbishment of london Zoo as a thank you for helping them out when Iraq invaded Kuwait.

The site was agreed but since then nothing.........

We used to borrow horses from there for RAF competitions very occassionally....when I was stationed as RAF in London.
