Does anyone know of any?

Our one year old cocker pup is struggling without a friend to play with after loosing Penny as the collie is slowing down and doesn't play.
We have my sister cocker pup a few times a week while they are at work but once she goes home our girl just deflates and goes in on herself. We don't want her to loose her playful nature and a ckcs was on the cards for the future.

I know of one who's no longer breeding (not much use to you!); an ex-colleague got a ckcs puppy from a breeder in Oxford. Is that too far away for you?

Thank you and I know this probably sounds horrid but my last three were refuses and required a lot of work with confidence, social and people, a large amount of vet bills and I'm just not in a place were I can do that again yet.

Also alot of the ckcs up for rescue want quiet homes and mine isn't overly quiet even.tbough we are here 90%of the time I have two very active dogs. Have been told before by the ones in the link my house is too active.

Nope that's not too far away, brother goes to Nuffield orthopaedic hospital so know how to get there in my sleep.

I'm so sorry completely forgot to reply to your PM! This thread has reminded me, but really I do apologise :(

I would contact the Cavalier Club (or look on their website) and it will have details of their puppy register, you may have to travel a bit but for healthy puppies from health-checked parents it is worth it. CKCS puppies are selling for about £800-£900 at the moment I believe

No worries I thought it hadn't been sent as I am on my phone.
Thank you will have a look

I am looking for the taller and chunkier ckcs which seems to be like a needle in a haystack as the breed has changed so much in the last twenty years since we have looked for a cavi pup. Example of our cavi, he was 14 in this picture and the pup was our cocker x cavalier who lives till 14 too.

My mum has just lost her oldest at 14 1/2 years old, the oldies are gorgeous but can cause so much heartache! I agree CKCS have changed hugely over the years - what colour were you looking for?

Our last one was 14 with no heart problems 😊 the vets were amazed.
I feel bad for all those in the rescues but our other two dogs are just too lively for them.

We think a blenheim but wouldn't mind tri colour. To be fair as long as it's healthy colour isn't the most important to us.
I am really upset about how the breed has changed so much. They used to be such stocky dogs that you could do anything with now a lot of them just look fragile.

I'm VERY pro rescuing but the same as you, my next one will be a pup from a reputable breeder. I genuinely feel like I have done my time with rescues and put my heart and soul into it and need a "break" with something that I can bring up properly. The vague plan is when my mad old bat isnt here anymore I'll get a puppy, with a view to the one after that being a rescue. But I just really want a chance to bring a young, healthy dog up from scratch. I dont think there is any shame in that :)

I have owned three, and have numerous friends who also own more than one. I do think the Blenheims are less robust, both in physique and temperament, and that could well be a direct result of the many puppy farms who produce "appealing" Blenheims. My current two are black & tan and tri colour, and the B&T is one of the most robust dogs I know - she is 5 years old and came through Cavalier Rescue, rather than one of the many general rescues who tend to pick up the ex puppy farm dogs. My tri is well over 11 going on 3, despite a grade 3 heart murmur - IME if you treat them like spaniels rather than furry children they are fine.
Good breeders take health problems on board and do their best to eliminate them from their stock, my B&T came from a private breeder, and I almost managed to home a male Blenheim who had been bred privately. You can rescue genuine well bred dogs, mine both are and came to me at 9 and 5 years of age.
Puppy farms have done so much harm to the breed, and should be stamped out.

We have owned five in total since i was born, I grew up with them. All of my spaniels have been treated like spaniels not lap dogs as people don't realise ckcs have a lot more to give and was considered worked dogs at one point.

The reason I want a pup is because our young cocker is only a year old. I would like something for her to grow up with and play about.

All of my blenheims have been fantastic and brilliant at their jobs.
My last two were black and tan sisters. We lost one at 10 with lymphoma and the other last year at 14 when she just stopped eating and would just sleep all the time.

Saw an old fashioned chunky ckcs up my local feild last night so they are still around which is nice.

Thank you will have a look around.

I may be able to advise on the breeder if you let me have the name.... it was the area I grew up in..... :) My mum did have 2 whole colours for sale last time I spoke to her, I always hesitate to offer her as she is a real dragon and will put you through a Spanish inquisition if you call her.... :D

I don't mind.

I'm doing my homework at the moment so if by the time I find the right breeder even if they don't have any pups at the moment I'm happy to wait for the right type if that makes sense.

The old trout will answer your PM later as it won't let me do it on my mobile.
