Hi all, so madam came in with a cut leg last week, thankfully nothing too serious but had to get the vet as she has a nasty flap and it was fairly deep… anyway she’s on the mend but not sure whether to claim on the insurance or not… the bill so far was £316 (2 visits, load of dressings, bandages, antibiotics and Bute) and hopefully that’s it… there may be another visit at the end of the week to check all is ok (vet is out at the yard anyway) Excess on the policy is £145.

Should I claim or is it likely to make my premiums sky high?!

It makes no difference to your renewal because you have to declare it whether you claim for it or not. So you might as well claim. It's not like car insurance, you can't hide the fact you had it repaired independently in a garage round the corner, they will check your vet records if you ever make a claim for anything else.

I hope it heals well.

Ah ok, haven’t had to claim for anything for about 20 odd years as have had a break from horses! Thank you! X
