Is it worth claiming from insurance for remedial trimming? Pony has been having remedial trimming for laminitis. I hadn't thought about claiming for this but As it's been going on for several months now and the insurance will run out fairly soon I wondered if it was worth it.
My farrier doesn't normally provide a invoice so not quite sure how it works.

If you're already claiming for the condition then yes, get everything back that you can - sure your farrier will be able to provide back dated invoices if you ask.

If it’s recommended by the Vet then yes, it’s what you pay your premiums for!
They will only pay out the difference in price from remedial to regular price

Yes! My farrier doesn't invoice as standard, but when we were claiming for remedial shoeing he would always write one up and include his business card so that the insurance company could contact him to confirm the treatment should they wish (not that they ever did)

Amazingly KBIS paid out the full amount last year for me; I regularly knock them as the masters of the exclusion clause, so credit where credit's due.

PetPlan paid out in full for remedial shoeing carried out at the horsepital. Once we were back home they would have covered the difference between a normal set of shoes and the remedial set - horse needed heart bars following keratoma surgery.

My farrier however didn't charge me any extra for the heart bars (he makes his own) so I didn't claim once we we out of horsepital. It's definitely worth looking into and your farrier should be able to provide an invoice.
