Thinking about getting one as have planned a few away shows for the year already and I don't have a trailer or horsebox (we use transport and then drive up) and it's kind of the best option and at £230 they aren't cheap but not expensive. So, Anyone have one or any experiences with them? Thanks, also does anyone have a Rhino Runner? I don't have anywhere to store a wheelbarrow (i used to share one with my friend but not anymore) and so it would be easier to just get a Runner and a few tub trugs? Thanks.
 
I put my tack in the boot of the car and any odd bits (e.g. boots) in a cardboard box. This is a far cheaper option and it would save space as unless you have your own trailer or lorry there is not really anywhere to put a tack pack along with all your shavings and feed. I definatley recommend getting your own wheelbarrow rather than having the tub rugs. A wheelbarrow is a lifesaver as it not only makes mucking out easier, it also saves you carrying rugs, shavings, haynets saddles etc.. around a large showground. I got my wheelbarrow from B and Q and is was relatively cheap-cheaper than the rhino runner.

I don't really trust putting my tack in the car after my friends got broken into and stolen :/ I was thinking of putting the tack pack just outside the stable? I usually keep my feed in plastic bags and then put them in his feed bucket and shavings i usually bring two bags so i can make a bed for him and then buy what is needed at the show. As for the wheelbarrow, i don't have anywhere to keep it when not at shows and when at shows, we don't have anywhere to store it and I have found that they get mysteriously borrowed and then you have to track them down! If we could get a trailer or horsebox it would be so much easier! ;)

I wouldn't leave it outside of a stable even more of a chance of it getting stolen! I have had all sorts of things stolen from outside temporary stables at shows, so I definatley would not reccomend leaving your tack unattended! I'm presuming you will probably be staying in a hotel/b&B, if you are leave your tack there when you are not using it and only bring it with you when you are going to be jumping. I often leave my tack buried safely somewhere in the car and it's been fine. have you got a car that can pull a trailer? as it might be worth hiring a trailer yourself and towing yourself (GT towing in hatfield I think). It is so much easier than relying on horse transporters to take you places. Before I got my own trailer we used to do this and we would put shavings, hay and feed (in bags too!-am and pm) on the other side and horse in the other. At my old yard there was a place down the side of the hay barn where grooms stored their wheelbarrows and I got permission from the YM to store it there too. The handyman did occasionally walk off with it but as it was fluorescent orange and had my name spray painted on it it was not hard to miss haha! I sometimes leave it in the garden as well. I would to have a lorry considering the amount of shows we do but it probably won't happen as my brother likes us having a trailer so he can 'borrow' if for his motorsport events!

I wish I could get a trailer (or hire) but my dad comes with and I wouldn't trust him to take my horse! :p I can't drive as I'm 13 so horse transport is the only option we have. A girl I know has one and she chains hers to the stable? ;) My best option for the wheelbarrow is really a rhino runner as I don't have anywhere to put it unfortunately :(

haha I rely on my dad taking us until I have passed my test etc.. He has played the role of horse taxi for about 6 years now. At first I thought we were going to die whenever we left the yard but over the years he has got better at the road trips and he has been known to help bed down :O

I personally, still wouldn't do it as given the recent thefts at blue chip, wales and west etc., I wouldn't put is past someone to cut the chains and take your tack. But at the end of the day its your decision.

:/ what about getting this: http://www.jswhorseboxes.co.uk/product_info/1023_classic-saddle-carrier and then keeping it at the hotel and just carrying it when needed? a tack pack would be ideal if we could bolt it to the ground ;)
 
I think that might be a better option, its saves space and it saves you a lot of money!

to be honest everything needs to be bolted down and security alarmed to prevent someone from taking it nowadays :(
