Classical dressage Piaffe training. Easy peasy! *vid*

:D

Of course it's this easy! Carrot stick is a miracle training tool. Has Mr Parelli taught you nothing ;) :p

I think Monty will master it :D

Thanks for the laugh on a Monday morning, much appreciated!

I like it!..works as well as trying to get my youngster to walk through a small puddle...first piaffe then I get a puissance 'big wall' jump over offending puddle

I really don't think carrot stick training should be recommended to the inexperienced...I tried this about 20 years ago (before Parelli I think!) whilst riding a pony. Said pony stood still for a bit, had a little think, then knelt down and pinned the carrot between his knees and munched away whilst tiny little me sat on top wrestling with what felt like a giant fish on the end of the line. No piaffe anywhere.

Good advice KatPT... I think that, like any training aid, the carrot-stick has to be used properly and carefully. It's very easy for it to be used wrongly and to cause injury to horse or rider. Never, for instance, hold the stick in your own mouth to free up the hands, or pass it under the horse's headpiece, or through the girth and up between the forelegs (although this may work for long/low training for very experienced carrot-stick trainers).

And don't use the carrot-stick unless you know why you're using the carrot-stick. :D
