Looks like I will be moving that way soon. I know of Slough Farm, Manor Farm and Arbrook but would like to know pros & cons of each (and prices especially helpful) if anyone has experience of them or any others in the area.

I'm looking for:

Excellent hacking without any road work
Parking for Horsebox/trailer (may not be essential)
Arena or area for schooling/popping a few jumps
Ideally 24/7 at grass in summer and assisted DIY (morning t/o) in winter
Mares/geldings separate
Small grazing groups ideally no more than 8 in a field if possible.
Fellow happy hackers!
Relaxed, friendly atmosphere but managed & organised.

Any help appreciated.

I was at Slough and can't comment on the others... I think slough is currently £185 per month box and field only. This does include a good sized secure tack room for each stable

There is great hacking from every yard in Claygate. You do have roadwork from Slough, its about 10 - 15 mins depending on the woods you're going to. Its pretty quiet though and I didn't know anyone who had a problem with it.
Parking for Horsebox/trailer (may not be essential)
I didn't have one but people did park trailers and boxes although it was on grass not hardcore and I think it cost extra (dont know how much)

Arena or area for schooling/popping a few jumps
Floodlit sand school (square not traditional shape but plenty big enough - 20p for 1/2 hour light) which can be booked for after work to avoid arguements in winter! Also a very large field with two grass areanas, a set of showjumps and x country jumps, the field is open in the summer / spring only
Ideally 24/7 at grass in summer and assisted DIY (morning t/o) in winter
Very knowledgeable assistence provided, can do anything from turning out to a full livery service. 24/7 turnout April to October and then out all day and in at night in the winter

Mares/geldings separate

.
Mares and geldings seperate in biggish groups. I can only talk for mares but they were divided by age so old mares and younger mares, about 8 - 10 in each very big field.
Fellow happy hackers!

Lots of happy hackers, tbh thats most people there, and all different ages / abilities[/

Nice yard, well managed. It is big though, I think getting on for 60 horses so it is busy (but I liked this)Any help appreciated.

Hope this helps - I liked Slough and would still be there if I hadn't have moved to part and now grass (full) livery.

No worries. I thought the roadwork was fine and the drivers are all v considerate as they see so many horses!

Go see the yards and have a nosey. Maybe drive some of the roadwork and see if you're comfortable with it? Hope you and your horse find somewhere you're happy!

I was at Arbrook a few years ago and loved it there!

Excellent hacking without any road work
You have to cross roads to get to Esher/Oxshott Common but you don't have to do any real road work
Parking for Horsebox/trailer (may not be essential)
Yep, was £20 a month
Arena or area for schooling/popping a few jumps
Hmmm, they have a covered barn type area, awful surface and in the winter polo ponies live in it overnight so surface is even worse. There is a field we were allowed to use in the summer to school and jump in. I used to box to Manor Farm and use their school.

Yes to 24/7 in the summer. He probably would turn out for you in the mornings, but you'd probably be better off pairing up with someone.
Mares/geldings separate
No mixed herds, but never any issues
Small grazing groups ideally no more than 8 in a field if possible.
Yep no more than 8
Fellow happy hackers!
Yes and lots of them
Relaxed, friendly atmosphere but managed & organised.Yep, as I said I couldn't fault it, except no school, hacking's fab, people lovely, YO's lovely, lives on site. I only left as moved slightly further out and there was a yard at the end of my road :)

Manor Farm run by Sandra and Amy, absolutely the best yard I've ever been on, not the smartest but huge indoor school 365 day turnout and fab caring people, if we hadn't moved away would still be there now.

Thank you. Can you recall what you were paying? Was it DIY assisted?
