I havent read the rest of last nights thread becaiuse most of it disgusts me. but just so we are all clear here is the following information.
1. at badminton the horse (kown for being somewhat lazy) pulled a shoe jumping through the pond. Obviously clayton ouldnt know this for sure and gave the horse a smack as he started to slow up. Please note that when the horse stopped there was NO ATTEMPT to continue as i am told the horse had lost a fair bit of hoof and this was immeditely apparent.
2. At Saumur the incident happened very early on the course ( i was told by someone there) between fences two and three so clayton would hardly have been ragging it at that point.
3 the horses way of going always makes it look like hard work because he IS hard work! The type who does what is required, just enough.
Although it is currently believed the horse just slipped and fell, on the sand at saumur, this is quite unusual and the exact cause will not be known if ever until the PM is carried out.
4. Having had a fall of that nature at speed, instead of bitching and trying to lay blame perhaps we should all be a little thankful that Clayton walked away from it.

If he lost so much of his hoof why was he running at Saumur 2 weeks later?

to be honest, i have just been really saddened by the death of such a wonderful horse and no amount of argument or information is going to affect the loss that is being felt by the eventing world, whether it was anyones fault or not, and of course i am very glad that Clayton walked away unscathed, my condolences go out to him and everyone who knew Neville.

as gloster said that is exactly what happened and the horse was not even entered until the last minute when he was definately ok. so last minute that last weekend they hadnt even had their entry confirmed when i talked to clayton mum at chatsworth. Stop stirring xspiral and get back under your bridge.

Im a big fan of Clayton, when I was eventing at a low level I always appreciated how down to earth he seemed. I just thing that it is disgusting that all of you sit on here speculating about peoples riding etc..............can anyone say they know what happened for sure?! Doubt anyone knows the complete facts! If you all had a right to sit here and criticise about his riding and knew as much as you like to think you do.................would we not of seen you at Badminton? As for the care of the horses, everyone seems to thing that all these top riders dont care for their horses? How do we know? We only see them at competition?! I dont know why I come on here..........maybe in the hope of reading something useful?!
I didnt read everyone comments got fed up, but see that alot of the msgs showed sympathy.........im sure its only a minority that are opinionated! What a loss to eventing, and the Fredericks Team :-(

Why doesnt everyone just stop this topic completely? It is a great loss to eventing but the debate now needs to come to an end!!!!

as sad as it is for CF to lose this good horse, i'm just happy that CF himself is unscathed...

Good horses, no matter how loved, are replacable...

best of luck to Team Fred for the rest of the year...

dead right. i am gutted for the horse, clayton and all the connections. i dont often cry these days when horses die but i did last night. i am going off line now, this forum is not what it used to be.

Oh get over yourself lucretia, its a perfectly valid question.

In the other thread I have had nothing but kind words and support for Clayton, whilst defending others rights to free speech, so don't call me a troll just because I dare to question your almighty word.

I really feel for Clayton and connections. I don't see the point in wagging fingers, in any case it was a dreadful accident.

However I don't think this thread should have been started. All this was said in the other thread and dragging it up again is not helping the situation. I don't see what it is achieving other than dragging out the argument.

There is nothing like people wishing to prove that they know more than other people, have better connections, and have the 'inside goss' on things. None of which apply to me of course, so I shall remain in my state of blissful ignorance.

Condolences to Team Fredericks, and to Nullabor's groom, they must be devastated

Haven't bothered reading the other thread but ditto Nad, Clayton is a LOVELY guy, one that is down to earth, helps anyone and speaks to everyone - be it Princess Anne or a groom in exactly the same way!

RIP Nullabor x

I don't think you're doing anyone any favours Lucretia by prolonging this thread, and quite honestly think it was thrashed to it's natural end last night.
I think perhaps instead of apparently starting a controversial thread today perhaps you should go and read the remainder of the other one, this really doesn't need to be stirred up all over again for the majority of us.
Sometimes it's best to just walk away and leave things.

I read the previous thread and am disapointed that you feel the need to bring this up again Lucretia? I did not like the way you spoke to MDM, and am appauled by some of your comments. Kindly stop now.

On another note....Poor Nullabor, what a sad loss.

If you really find the other thread that bad dont read it or rise above it as they say.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion , and some of your comments were really quite childish.

Personally I dont see the point in starting another thread to carry on "disgusting" comments, you accuse Spiral of being a troll then start a new thread on the subject?

I think anyone with half an ounce of sense can see what a tragedy this has been, and are gutted for rider/horse/groom and anyone close to the horse. Its not an opportunity to score points on who knows who or who heard what first.

To be fair i dont think lucretia is trying to "score points". She has worked for the fredericks and was closely involved with nevile so is understandably heartbroken, so for her to here clayton being bad mouthed in the wake of this tragedy must have been very hard for her and i'm not at all surprised that she snapped.
I also think she is not the only one who made disgusting comments but others weren't so attacked for it - i know some made towards me were very unfair though i also made unfair though general comments myself - i never aimed mine at anyone in particular and it was pure anger that got me into a state where i could get wound up like that.
We are all understably upset at a top horse being killed and so so grateful clayton himself was uninjured and i agree that this debate should now be put to an end - but please remember that neither me or lucretia are the only ones being outspoken and rude on this forum right now.
End of.

tbh if it was my friend i would want the subject of rider error closed asap to protect them, as i wouldnt want them to hear the comments, surely if its that disgusting to suggest he made a mistake then starting another thread just raises the profile of the comment further.

Perhaps but people all react differently so while you would prefer to close the subject asap somebody else would feel they needed to continue to fight for their friends innocence - i think it just highlights how people are all different

true, but to be fair I dont see the need to "fight for innocense"
no one said Clayton deliberatly injured the horse or made an error, all that way said was it may have been rider error- which i dont see as being offensive- I am sure every single on of us who rides has made a mistake.

Well did u see the initial quote that directly said "bad riding. i blame clayton" ? Anyway that would be dragging it all up again which is not going to achieve anything x

which you have just managed to do....

*trying not to rise to the bait*
Incorrect JM07 - I am merely directing her attention to the initial quote as she appeared to be mistaken. Please don't insinuate that I was doing anything else. See, I told you I wasn't the worse one on here! lol

I did, which, if the said person saw the accident, she is entitled to say.

But as her riding is "below worm level" and she is not a "4* proffesional or international professional I guess she should of stayed quiet and left you experts to be the judge lol

Umm when did i say that? oohhhhh yeah i didnt. So please don't use another user's quote against myself. Now whose starting another debate.

i didnt say you said it , I am merely quoting from the other thread.

Seriously I am not interested in starting a debate. I feel so sorry for all concerned with this tragedy.

As someone who is voicing an opinion on Amy Tryon i find the whole situation quite ironic. I am not going to bother explaining this though as I expect you wont listen.
