I did not know this. I always thought that it was best to leave to dry and then wipe clean and oil.

No and no, no oil! Clean with hand hot water, a cotton dishcloth (good texture) then condition as required, and when leather gets super wet it will also dry out more, so keep some of that moisture in it with immediate application of good waxy conditioner.

Clean while wet, condition (with a good waxy conditioner like those mentioned on the thread) while still slightly damp. Dry very slowly away from direct heat before and after :)
Thankyou, well I left it on the floor in the hallway (OH away ?) so it's dried now with the underfloor heating. I must treat this saddle better, it's about 18 years old
