I took my mats out to clean them and the stable floor recently and now it appears the wee is going down between the mats (which it always did a little) and running along underneath them and into the feed room next door i.e. under my partition! This has never happened before and I have had them in my stable for almost 3 years and took them all out a year ago to clean them and it never happened. Do you think I didn’t put them close enough together or something and there’s a tiny gap?? The only difference is I have put easibed down, could that be the cause? It’s like the wee just went straight down between the mats and ran into the feedroom, all of it.

I’ve dragged them all back out and plan to seal the bottom of the partition where it meets the floor in the hope it at least stops going into the feed room next door. Should I put a layer of chippings under the easibed and press it down in the hope it fills any gaps??

easibed is likely to be the cause. It's not very absorbant and the pee just soaks straight through to the floor. i had this problem with b, ended up having to lift my mats weekly to let the stinking puddles dry up or else have pee run out the front of his door. This winter I used ordinary (cheaper) shavings and I the mats stayed down the whole winter and weren't even that bad when I did lift them. Couldn't believe the difference.

Problem is he’s now living out with access to his stable and easibed moves around less than shavings plus I planned to deep litter it and just remove wee once a week but it flooded on the first night! Plus I don’t like the dust from shavings…

Buy a cheap bottle of silicone sealant and seal the mats together. Thats always worked for us. We didn't rate easibed at all, cheap and cheerful shavings everytime.

Can you not just seal your mats? Mine are sealed - nothing gets underneath, I never have to lft them to clean and they therefore don't smell - bliss.

Kezza, hello. You need Aquamax. It absorbs the urine and kills the amonia, stopping it soaking under the bed and through the cracks. Google horsezz for the best deal. Also worth getting a silicone sealant in a gun from Screwfix, you can get bulk packs for lttle cost, run beads along all edges and refit. This will give an added barrier to all seals
