Cleaning a grey without actually bathing it?

Misty is officially a mucky bog pony. She has been out rugless for the past week and is taking great delight in rolling in the muddiest patch she can find. We're going to a rural ride on Sunday and I want her looking all clean but no amount of grooming is going to remove the stains. What's the best way to get rid of them without giving her a full bath?

Spend 3 hours brushing her, before you decide she looks exactly as bad as when you started, then bath her anyway......

We had a grey who loved stable stains just before some outing! Watered down vinegar is quite good, then go over the patches with chalk. Stranger things have been seen in grooming boxes trust me! x x x

go get yourself a bottle of COWBOY MAGIC -green spot remover..... works brilliantly on all white beasties........ also - a dry shampoo might help - but cowboy magic all the way!!!!

You can get some amazing horse stain remover sprays that you just spray on leave for a few minutes and then sponge off. Robinsons do Canter Coat Whitening Spray and Requisite Dry Shampoo and they don't cost a huge amount either!

I have a grey mud monster too! I groom him then get a bucket of hot water with baby oil in it. Wet and wring out the towel and wipe it over the coat - you might need to scrub, but keep rinsing out the towel and redoing it. This doesn't soak the coat and I use it all through the winter. It is also great on manes and tails!

Hope this helps!

Have a great ride!
