Cleaning A Velvet Horse Riding Helmet ?

Well title says most of it ! This is my velvet show hat how do i go about cleaning it ? any reccomended products or just water... ? please help ?

steam it from the kettle, and soft brush it at the same time

Hold it over a steaming kettle or pan of boiling water. If really rank use kitchen roll to blot off dirt as its loosened, then a soft brush. Once dry brush again with soft brush. ( I use an old baby hair brush ). If its really filthy use a clean stiff brush to remove excess dirt before steaming.

I was wondering the same thing today. Orange builders sand, mud and blood.

Me thinks new hat....LOL
