I think you can get dog toothpaste in meaty flavours! And toothbrushes that go on the end of your finger instead of human ones.

mine get dry food aswell, but would like to make sure!! thanks loads for that!!! How much fun will i have cleaning doggy teeth!!!

I really should do it, will have to have a shopping trip for beefy toothpaste so Henry can

Not sure what Henry will make of it... will have to have a before and after finger count!

Most pet shops sell doggy toothpaste and brushes, and you can also anti-plaque powder from the vet, which you sprinkle on their food. I must say I'm very lax in the tooth-cleaning area - Leah HATES having her teeth cleaned so I've sort of given in. She has quite good teeth though, and she's always got something to chew on which I think helps, so I'm not too bothered.

Ours loved it and we used Enzymic poultry flavoured toothpaste (yum!)at £7 a crack! We just pinned the bugger down and got to it and he adored it! Best thing to use is the longer toothbrush from the vets... When ours saw the toothbrush he would start licking his lips and stomping his foot and would get his tongue out so quick to lick the toothpaste off!!!
Bones are good as has already been mentioned!
and we just do happened to take piccies as he was used as a demonstrator at the vets.

Uncooked butchers bones (huge cows legs type), do a fab job of teeth cleaning or hard based chews, piges ears

Yep marrow bones for mine too!

Though they do have a habbit of when they have jaw ache & having a rest, they leave them right where I will step on them!

Never had to clean mine real colgate smiles, lamb bones all the way, raw meat, like stewing steak will polish them as well. I don't tend to use beef bones too much as they can be very hard.

My lab x is 8 1/2 years old with pretty much no tartar even on her molars. She's always been on a dried diet and had bones either from a butchers or the freeze wrapped ones from the saddlery or the cooked knuckle bones. Poo will be white afterwards!! (calcium!!) hence the phrase why do you never see white dog poo anymore!! (because people don't give bones!)

Mine have bones too but Alf is such a girl he only picks at them so he gets his teeth done though not as regularly as he should because he doesn't like it much. He has poultry flavoured paste from the vets and a nice soft brush.

My vet told me that if they're eating decent food (wet or dry) and drinking lots of water, you shouldnt need to clean their teeth and could actually cause them damage.

So we have no intention of doing our puppies. He said when they get older just buy them some chews.

Zak has only ever eaten dry food and drinks plenty, yet his teeth have just had to be done as they were gross and smelly
