I use one of those white plastic feed bowls and rinse it out after every meal, however a build up of yukky brownish/black old feed stuff seems to cling onto the sides and I do not know the best way to remove it .. it also goes reddish, which I put down to the start of mould! I have tried scubbing it and using cream cleaner but it sticks to the sides and I cannot get rid of it! Any of you out there got the simple solution?

I used to scrub mine with salt way back when.....much cheaper, and safer for neds than a cream cleaner

Fill with water and add one of those tablets that are used to clean dentures. Leave over night and rinse. They come up lovely

(just don't let your grandma catch you!!!).

All my feed bowls are squeaky clean - there is no way that either horse would consider leaving a scrap of food on them!

(I also rinse them out as soon as possible after feed time)

I sloosh with water - mine are squeaky clean - my boys never leave anything that resembles food behind.

When I have had a bit of build up I just use hot water and washing up liquid and leave to stand then scrub with a big brush.

I power hosed a corner feeder a few weeks ago, I was power washing a rug and thought it would be a good idea! It was, every scratch & groove cleaned up and the bowl was like new again. I haven't done it since but it was a good job.

Thanks to everyone who gave me some advise and I have tried all of them apart from the pressure washing .... I have done that with my rubber bowls and ended up soaked to the skin lol!
After soaking it with hot water and steradent for a couple of days I have managed to get it clean apart from the reddish/pink effect, which I think is a type of mould (sounds like I do not look after my boys doesnt it!) so I am now in the process of bleaching it. After a really good wash out I will hand it back to the rightfull owner, who is not so happy feeding from the rubber bowl on the floor rather than his wall hung (now white with pink bits!) bowl.
