starting a new thread rather than adding to my current one in the hopes more people see it!

when i viewed my trailer, friends dad said all was good but just suggested i give all the electrics a good clean - how do i go about this?🤣 spraying wd40 on the electric pin i can manage, but i’m not sure what to do with the rest of it!

trailer will be serviced before it has any horses in, but that won’t be for another month or so - need to be able to get it there in 1 piece first🤣

Do the trailer electrics currently work OK to get you to the service place?

A new full new set isn’t expensive, and is not a bad thing to request to be done at the service with an older but new-to-you trailer. It needs replacing every few years anyway. It’s rather stressful hitching up to go somewhere and finding out that the lights don't work.

An emery board on a dodgy contact can sometimes get them working again.

they worked coming home, but typically one started flickering AFTER i’d paid🫣 friends dad said give it all a good clean and all should be well, we wiggled the pin to the tow bar and gave the light a poke and all was fine. would just like to give it a going over so i’ve got lights whilst i do a little bit of practice before taking it that far! not a million miles away, but definitely not what i had planned for our first journey haha

Tbh, my Ifor was always a bit tricky with lights, you had to make sure the plug was well pushed in. Sometimes it needed a wiggle 🙄.
I put a blob of Vaseline or grease in the trailer plug, and always keep the vehicle plug covered.

I always carry a flat headed screwdriver in my discovery. Perfect for opening up the contacts in the plug, which 9 times out of 10 sorted the light flickering issue out.
