My gate is really muddy and it's deep at moment. Horses have to be shod so how do I clean their legs for the farrier in a short space of time? One I can manage but struggling with 3.

As above - hosepipe and water, with a brush of some kind if you're still struggling to shift the mud. But farriers don't tend to like wet legs either, so if you're planning to bring in, wash legs, then present straight to the farrier I would reconsider and bring in several hours before, or leave in for the day.

I tend to get them all in and start one end! Armed with a water brush and bucket of water, a curry comb and hoof pick.

As farriers do not like very wet legs, the less water you can get away with using, the better, and with a hose there's scope to wet too much leg!.
So I curry off any dried mud first, scrape off mud from hoof walls with the side of hoof pick, then use water brush and water on really muddy bits. Then pick up each foot, pick out and scrub with water brush. Then a quick towel dry, which tends to get the last of the mud off.

Or sometimes they just get blasted with hose if they are in stable to dry well before farrier comes.

Farriers would rather a bit of mud than sopping wet legs, I would only hose them if you have leg wraps to dry them off, they need to come in a good hour before so it dries although mine will often leave the wraps on at the start if still wet.

Failing that some old towels to wipe off most of the mud then brush off what's left once it dries and pick feet out.
