I've noticed that Jack has some milky clear discharge from his lungs when worked - it's not got any blood in it and isn't green or yellow so I don't think it's an infection but will get the vet to check anyway. I just wondered if it was likely due to the fact he's been stabled (straw) at night all winter? Has anyone ever used any of those clear lung supplements - i.e. NAF respirator, or Wendells Respiration herb stuff? If so are they any use?

ETS - it comes out of his nose - I don't actually perform surgery on his lungs to check.

Get the vet to check it out definately. My boy has COPD, and he has had Ventipulmin many times to treat it. He now is turned out as much as possible, is on hardly any bedding with top notch rubber matting, and soaked great quality haylage. Supplement wise we didnt get on with any NAF ones, and tried them all. The only one we think has genuinely helped, is Winergy Ventilate. Think you need to rule out allergic reactions, excessive dust particles etc. Good luck.
