Clearing Strangles

Afternoon
im really struggling to understand why my horse isn't clearing strangles despite vet intervention - flushes, removal of chrondriods and 3 lots of gel antibiotics.

First test showed a CT 29, he had a negative culture and pouches lovely and clear

Vet then said leave another week and add another lots of antibiotics and do a flush

Second test, 8 days later, the CT hasn't budged from 29...which feels mighty odd given he's had a week to help himself and a round of anti botics, not to mention lovely clear pouches

Otherwise he's fit and healthy

Has anyone had an experience of this? we are now entering our 6week of treatment and all getting v stressful not to mention expensive

Any thoughts would be greatly welcomed x

Think 8 days is a bit to soon between flushes/GPW.
I think 4 weeks is much more common and a better time frame between so there's chance for everything to work

Thank you
Vet was very confident he would test negative as he had high CT and neg culture first time round
Also there are no infection sites
The other horses have all shown improvements in ct scores even with a 5 day time lapse
I just find it odd a young, fit horse benefiting from another 8 days rest, flush and antibiotics… sees no improvement in CT?
Thanks for the comments much appreciated x

My horse has had this happen twice but 6 months on the test was clear vet said its quite common for them to test positive shortly after especially if they are prone to this kind of infection.

Mine didn't actually have strangles it started both times with a snotty nostril.

I'm also sure he had 2 lots of antibiotics the second time.
