My horse has been on the above for 5 days now as he was coughing and vets suspects an allergy. Yesterday he did not cough at all and I was hoping to take him for a quiet hack tomorrow if he didn't cough today. This morning he had one "soft" cough but tonight after I had given him his 20 puffs he had a coughing fit. To say I am fed up is an understatement. I am going to speak to the vet tomorrow but just wondered if this was normal. I'm not expecting miracles but was hoping for some improvement by now.

20 is alot of puffs so I take it he's got pretty severe breathing issues? if so 5 days isnt a long time i'd probably give it longer but speaking to your own vet who knows his history is best.

Thanks for the reply. He actually has no problems breathing but the cough just won't go away!! His results showed a severe inflammation. Spoke to my vet this morning and she said just keep doing what we're doing. He's on 20 puffs twice a day at the moment. After 2 weeks we will start to reduce it until we find the right dosage for him.
On the bright side he has not coughed today so fingers crossed I can finally get on him tomorrow. Just for a gentle mooch around the common. :)
