iam in berkshire i have a clevalandbay x tb mare and the livery yarde owner has a pure bred gelding i will put on some pics but have only just joint so need to sort out my profile.

Yes, there are several owners and breeders on here including us who have a small stud of them at Lincoln University. We are noticing an increase in interest in them and particularly the part breds as riding horses, which is what we have been trying to promote. They are a bit like Marmite - you either love them or hate them! Those who love them won't have a word said against them, but if you're not a fan, then they can be the equine spawn of the devil. They do scrub up nice for showing though. We have a retired one eyed brood mare at home who was once described by a vet nurse as looking like a " small tenement block". She is quite big. If she decides she wants to be somewhere it's best to think it was your idea in the first place and that's where you wanted her to be anyway. She's quite sweet though and does like individual attention and grooming, but will pretend she doesn't.

We have a cbxtb 11yr old mare and she is lush, has you tearing your hair out one minute and crying into the haylage the next cos she is so sweet.
They are a law unto themselves but so loving, know what they want and how to get it, (don't know about the geldings) and even when being stubborn , I think god she's gorgeous, I don't have the experience to ride through her tantrums but I love watching her, all of a sudden it will register with her what is being asked and she responds, but at 16 2hh she is a force to be reckoned with.
There is a saying, tell a gelding, ask a mare and negotiate with a stallion and I have found that to be so true

Hehehe what Gekko said! :)

Headcount:

2 x 3/4 CB, 1/4 TB Stallions
1 x 1/2 CB, 1/2 Holsteiner Stallion
1 x 1/2 CB, 1/4 Hol., 1/4 TB Colt (only a few weeks old)
4 x 1/2 CB, 1/2 TB Mares
1 x 37.5% CB, 62.5% TB Filly
1 x 3/4 CB, 1/4 TB Filly - down with friends who are showing her for us - just got 3rd Led Warmblood mare at the 2010 Royal Adelaide Show - a yearling up against the big girls :):)
1 37.5% CB, 12.5% TB, 50% Station Bred Stockhorse Colt.

Plus a stack of mares in foal to the boys :):)

This is my 5 yo CB beastie Roxy, she`s a doll, stubborn as a pig but has a heart of gold, thrives on human company and very food orientated, hasnt got a nasty bone in her body but will take the mickey out of you if she can get away with it, love this horse so much, can never get angry with her because he experssions just get me every time...:):D

Thanks to every body that replied its nice to see there are other people out there that love this breed as much as me i have put my tb in foal the same sire as my clevalandbay bay mare his name is oldenbrook grenadeer so hopfully a new foal next april

Kirsty 1, do you mean Oakenbank Grenadier? Beautiful horse!! Havent seen him in the flesh obviously being on the other side of the world, but he is just gorgeous from what I have seen and people who imported mares in foal to him here have been thrilled....

ye sorry shell bad speller hes such a calm stallion and only 1hr from me we have had a few horses from his owner a fraind of myn bought a colt from her but it cauld only be regestered as a half bred as he had a bit or white on his muzzel i will put pics on when i get home iam on holiday at the familys at the mo

Better add my brood

There was my darling Donks, the safest kindest ride - hunted all day and never pulled

Her offspring Lambley Jack - who is only four months old but has inherited not only her lovely eyes but her gentle nature (when not doing colty nips)

And my amazing fantastic Barbarian Buccaneer - he can be lively in the show ring but will hack on his own for hours and has just seen hounds for the first time and behaved impecably.

There is NO OTHER breed I would even think of owning!

If he was a true pure bred with covering papers he should be registered as a pure but noted on his passport that he is mismarked - I think I can guess who the stallion was, Donks dad - she and Nelly had the 'little bit extra'!

Cbs are just wonderful!! Oh has a cbxtb - her personality very much matches up with what others have described above! She is an total stunner and the most kind hearted soul you could ever meet. That doesn't mean, however, that she will always agree with you and quiety do as asked!! She doesn't like you to know how soft she is, but oh my how she loves to be groomed and petted. She will doze off with the softest expression on her face, and then walk out so proudly when done! Our dream is land of our own so that we can have more cbs. If you want a horse like a bike, then you will just hate them! But if you want a v clever horse (ours is way smarter than us, it does cause a couple of probs!) who when they trust you will try their heart out for you, then I don't think there is a better breed in all the world. (I just love her!)

I had a 3/4 tb, 1/4 CB and she could be a little 'difficult' to say the least - my instructor always said she wrote the book of evasions. She was the most stubborn animal known to man. It couldn't have all been bad as I owned her for about 17 years, saying that though I do think she put me off and I would definately NOT have another one! Sorry! However, I guess all the dodgey bits could have been the TB part of her parentage!
