Please look at the society website, stallion list above.

Stallion AI also have a list of stallions available in stock by frozen as do West Kington Stud.

Is your mare a Cleveland Bay, if so do you have her registration number?

I have uploaded most of the current stock of breeding age onto the Sport Horse Data website where you can carry out a test mating to see how the ancestry line looks.

If you need any help ,please contact info@clevelandbays.co.uk and mark it for the attention of Steve or shows@clevelandbays.co.uk and we will be very pleased to help.

You may also like to look at part breds, Jemoon Celtic Warrior is a super little horse at around 15.2 and although in Yorkshire he is on your side of the country just north of Lincolnshire.

I have him on my list of options for one of my mares next time. Think he will produce a nice small hunter and he is very athletic as you will see from the picture.

her dad is full cleveland bay, her mum is 3/4cleveland bay 1/4 ID

I think the nearest to you will be Lindon Principal who stands at Lincoln University Stud. Chilled or Fresh semen is sometimes available. HM The Queen sent a mare to this stallion last year. email Dr. Mark Curry mcurry@lincoln.ac.uk

You might want to get in touch with Dr. Curry anyway. There are so few CB's left that we have a selected mated scheme to encourage breeders to widen the gene pool and avoid in-breeding. He could advise you on this - as your mare has so much CB breeding.

I also recommend you look at the website of the southern breeders club for stallions/studs in the south. Excellent photo galleries. www.southernclevelandbayclub.co.uk

I have a nice chap here in France pity about that bit of water in between!!!!

thanks everyone, i am new to all this so any advice will be good.
i didnt know about the inbreeding thing!

There are only about 500 CB left worldwide - that includes Australia, USA, Canada and Japan as well as Europe.

Last year only 21 pure-bred fillies and 29 colts were registered - so every one is precious.

Hi Clait.

There are lots of lovely CB stallions out there and lots more available by AI so don't feel limited by geographical location. It's far more important that you use a quality stallion that is well suited to your mare. let us know of any that you 'shortlist' maybe some of us have relatives!

Can I just ask why your mare is unsound?

she went through the floor of my cheval trailer, she came back into work and then went lame(only a bit) i think this may be an ongoing thing. she is the first CB ive had and love to bits, shes a lovely big stamp of a horse and a lot of people are weary of her because of it, but she is a big soft lump!

I am not disagreeing with the point you make CB Fan but, when I have sent my mares to stud (Shagyas and CB's) location was important. Sad I know but I always visit my mares when they are away. Same with my CB stallion, when he was with a trainer - I visited him every three days!!!

I opted for natural covering after disappointing results with AI.

So location may be important for OP. Which I empathise with.

Fair point Rollin, I only meant it in terms of opening up OPs options in terms of choice of Stallions if she were to decide to go for AI... there are many available that are no longer with us. If she wants a nautural covering then yes, location would be very important.

Clait, that is such a shame about your mare. I hope you have fun (and success in finding her a nice CB Husband!
